Hua Hin Beaches

From the vibrant main beach to hidden coves and pine-shaded shores – discover the diverse coastline of Thailand’s royal resort town

Four Beautiful Beaches to Explore

Each with its own unique character and charm

The Main Beach

Hua Hin Beach

The iconic 7-kilometre stretch at the heart of Thailand's oldest beach resort

Hua Hin Beach

Hua Hin Beach is the main attraction that put this royal resort town on the map. Stretching over 7 kilometres of fine white sand from the town centre down to Khao Takiab mountain in the south, it's a pleasant beach lapped by the calm, warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand. The beach is remarkably shallow, making it perfect for paddling and safe for families with children. Along its length you'll find beach chairs, umbrellas, massage services, and access points to the many beachfront hotels and seafood restaurants. Horse riding along the shore is a beloved Hua Hin tradition, and you'll see locals offering rides throughout the day.

Good to Know

The beach can get busy on weekends and Thai holidays when visitors arrive from Bangkok. For a quieter experience, visit on weekdays. The best time for swimming is November to February when the weather is cool and dry. Be aware of some rocks and sharp shells near the main entrance points.

At Monkey Mountain

Khao Takiab Beach

A quieter stretch beneath the golden Buddha and famous Monkey Mountain

Khao Takiab Beach and Monkey Mountain

Khao Takiab Beach sits at the southern end of Hua Hin's main coastline, beneath the iconic Chopstick Hill (Khao Takiab) with its 20-metre golden Buddha statue overlooking the sea. This beach offers a more laid-back atmosphere than the main Hua Hin beach, with excellent seafood restaurants clustered near the fishing village at the foot of the mountain. The beach is clean, less crowded, and provides stunning views of both the Buddha statue and the coastline stretching back towards Hua Hin. It's also the starting point for climbing Monkey Mountain to visit Wat Khao Lad temple and its resident macaque monkeys.

Good to Know

The monkeys at Khao Takiab can be cheeky – don't carry food, plastic bags, or drinks openly as they may try to grab them. If climbing to the temple, wear modest clothing (cover shoulders and knees). There's food for sale to feed the monkeys near the temple, but don't try to touch them. Many restaurants offer free sun loungers with food/drink purchase.

The Pine Beach

Suan Son Pradiphat Beach

A peaceful, pine-shaded stretch managed by the Royal Thai Army

Suan Son Pradiphat Beach with pine trees

Suan Son Pradiphat – meaning “Sea Pine Garden” – is a tranquil beach located about 9km south of Hua Hin town, on the other side of Khao Takiab mountain. What makes this beach special is the beautiful line of casuarina pine trees that provide natural shade along the entire shore, making it comfortable even on hot days. The beach is managed by the Royal Thai Army's Infantry Center, which keeps it clean, safe, and relatively uncrowded compared to other Hua Hin beaches. There are no jet skis or banana boats here – just peaceful swimming, relaxing under the pines, and enjoying stunning views of small offshore islands.

Good to Know

Getting back can be tricky as there are few taxis in the area – arrange return transport in advance, take your own vehicle, or be prepared to walk. There are restaurants, coffee shops, and deck chairs for rent. A whale skeleton found locally is displayed near the beach. Special tourist trains run from Bangkok to Suan Son Pradipat station on weekends – a scenic day trip option!

Sai Noi Beach hidden cove

Sai Noi Beach – meaning “Small Sand Beach” – is a charming 360-metre cove tucked behind Khao Tao (Turtle Mountain), about 13km south of Hua Hin. Once a true hidden gem, it's now gaining popularity but still offers a more secluded experience than the main beaches. What sets Sai Noi apart is its deeper water (the seabed drops off quickly), making it one of the few spots near Hua Hin suitable for proper swimming. The beach is framed by dramatic rock formations at each end, including a striking black rocky promontory. A path leads up to a giant golden Buddha on Khao Tao with spectacular panoramic views, and the famous mermaid-and-fisherman sculpture is a beloved photo spot.

Good to Know

Visit early morning for the best experience – weekends now see more visitors. The beach is ideal for couples and those seeking quiet, but less suitable for parties or loud gatherings. Sun loungers are available (around ฿60, or free with food/drink purchase). The neighbouring Sai Yai Beach is private royal property. Wear appropriate footwear if planning to explore the rocks or climb to the Buddha.
